welcome to the anthill... digital art |

Some photo-manipulations i've done, using Paint Shop Pro - posted with the most recent first. They mainly involve different images layered on top of each other and faded, stretched, rotated to fit with each other. Most still need tweaking, and playing with... they're the products of my experimentation...
8. Sentinel Two (click for a larger version)
Along the same theme of the image below, i included the same photo of the Anthony Gormley statues in Sentinel #2 with a red sky taken from Chocolate Moonlight, in an attempt at a threatening, omnious horizon inspired by War of the Worlds. The main body of the picture is a countryside scene (Light pours down). I added texture to the foreground with tyre tracks from There and back again.
7. Sentinel (click for a larger version)
I've always loved the coast, sandy or shale beaches, breakwaters, the lapping of the waves. The bleakness, the transitory nature of it and the power of the elements at work. Here, i've put together 3 images. The breakwater, taken from Escher's Beach. The pattern in the sky and rods are from Changing Faces. The figure on the left is one of the statues which is part of the installation 'Another Place' by Anthony Gormley, currently in place at Crosby beach, Liverpool. The photo (as well as the others) was taken by David J. Nightingale, who owns Chromasia - Sentinel #2
6. Ripples (click for a larger version)
Four images overlaid - I echoed the flowers of
Cotton Lavender with the droplets of
Lost
in Space. In the background is the metalwork and pier of
From
one to the other. Filling the space in the top right is
As
Autumn Falls.
5. Swipe (click for a larger version)
A simple, quicker one. Just three images - "at the park #1" for the wrought iron, "the history of chalk" for the text and terracota colouring, put together with strip lights from "cause and reflect".
4. City (click for a larger version)
Again, i've used images from Chromasia. The main body of the image, the stairs is from "Downward Spiral". On the stairs, i've placed a section of people, from a negative version of "and let thy feet", from the Great Court of the British Museum. Behind the windows is a stretched and faded image of a generic industrial cityscape. To imply sun shining in, i've added sections from "down the drain".
3. Graf Merger (click for a larger version)
A graffiti-inspired image. This is a layering of 4 images from Chromasia: "Watch out", "Two chains #1", "Walking on water" and "Rash Magic".
2. Space Mergers (click for a larger version)
This one needs more work, to remove stray stars and black dots as well as residual text from underlying images, but as it is, it consists of 5 images. The eye of Hurricane Isabel takes up most of the area. On top of this, like a lid lifting off is a side-on view of the Sombrero Galaxy. In the background is an image from the Hubble Telescope of the Helix Nebula, placed on top of the Cat's Eye Nebula. In the foreground is a stretched crop from the railings of Blackpool Pier, taken from the brilliant photoblog 'Chromasia'.
1. Eye (click for a larger version)
This consists of a photo of my eye, taken using super macro mode on my Pentax Optio 450, which was combined with images of the Ring Nebula, and the Veil Nebula.
